Visions - Grimes

Visions is the third solo studio album from Canadian musician/artist Grimes. The album is her first since signing with 4AD. The album was recorded in Grimes' apartment over a three week period.Visions was streamed on a week before it was released.

The album was mixed by Grimes and her manager, Sebastian Cowan, at La Brique Studio Space.

Visions was very well-received by music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalised rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 81, based on 26 reviews, which indicates "universal acclaim".

Pitchfork Media labeled the release "Best New Music", claiming "Visions showcases a streamlined aesthetic, resulting in a statement that feels focused, cohesive, and assured. It's simple enough to leave room for Grimes to grow, but this thing is so compulsively listenable it's hard to come away from it wanting much more. Anchored to the digital imagination but unbridled from its skittish anxiety and concerns, Visions gestures skyward and beyond."

PopMatters wrote in their review, "Grimes’ Visions is an absolute blast. Easy to admire, easy to love. But Awopbopaloobop Alopbamboom if it isn’t tough to describe. Coaxing these 13 lucky strikes into a literary sandwich is like trying to photograph a sleeping ghost, stroke the northern lights or bag a will o’ the wisp with a fishing net."

The New York Times named the album "one of the most impressive albums of the year so far."
